The aim of IEA PVPS Task 12 is to foster international collaboration in the area of photovoltaics and environment. That includes compiling and disseminating accurate Information on environment, health, safety, and other aspects of sustainability associated with the life-cycle of photovoltaics. The austrian contribution addresses LCA, implementation of sustainability aspects and dissemination.
IEA PVPS Task 12: Photovoltaics (PV) Sustainability Activities (working period 2024 - 2027)
Photovoltaics (PV) is a renewable energy source that is an important technology for the energy transition. For this reason, or rather despite this, it is important to consider sustainability aspects in PV as well. End-of-life solutions in particular play an important role, as a strong increase in the number of end-of-life modules is expected in the coming years. Well-functioning recycling methods, repair possibilities or reuse options are of great importance. In this project, these existing methods and capacities in Austria are being researched and published in reports and workshops.
IEA PVPS Task 12: Photovoltaics Sustainability (working period 2018 - 2021)
The aim of IEA PVPS Task 12 is to foster international collaboration in the area of photovoltaics and environment. That includes compiling and disseminating accurate information on environment, health, safety, and other aspects of sustainability associated with the life-cycle of photovoltaics. Results are guidelines and data basis in order to harmonize LCAs and studies on future environmental impacts of PV and PV recycling. The Austrian contribution addresses LCA and implementation of sustainability aspects.
IEA PVPS Task 13: Performance, Operation and Reliability of Photovoltaic Systems
IEA PVPS Task 13 is the international and independent forum to exchange, discuss and disseminate information on performance and quality of photovoltaic systems and its components and materials. In its 4th operating period 2022-2025 new concepts and performance of photovoltaics in new applications and its key performance indices will be analysed. The Austrian participation guarantees the feedback of information to the Austrian stakeholders in PV industry.
IEA PVPS Task 13: Reliability and Performance of Photovoltaic Systems (Work Plan 2024 - 2025)
IEA PVPS Task 13 engages in focusing the international collaboration in improving the reliability of photovoltaic systems and subsystems by collecting, analyzing and disseminating information on their technical performance and durability, providing a basis for their technical assessment, and developing practical recommendations for improving their electrical and economic output in different climatic regions.
IEA PVPS Task 14: High Penetration of PV Systems in Electricity Grids (working period 2010 - 2014)
The main goal of Task 14 is to promote the use of grid-connected PV as an important source in electric power systems at the higher penetration levels that may require additional efforts to integrate dispersed generators. The aim of these efforts is to reduce the technical barriers to achieving high penetration levels of distributed renewable systems.
IEA PVPS Task 14: High Penetration of PV Systems in Electricity Grids (working period 2014 - 2018)
The IEA-PVPS Task 14, led by Austria as Operating Agent, promotes the use of grid connected PV as an important source in electric power systems on a high penetration level where additional efforts may be necessary to integrate the dispersed generators in an optimum manner. In a number of case studies from the participating countries, the challenges and approaches in the field of distribution networks, system management and power electronics components were shown in an international context. The result being elaborate reports with targeted recommendations and required measures to significantly increase the share of photovoltaics in electricity grids.
IEA PVPS Task 14: Solar PV in the 100% Renewable Energy Source based Power System (working period 2018 - 2024)
IEA PVPS Task 14 aims to enhance the international collaborative efforts defining the technical base for photovoltaic solar energy as a cornerstone in the future 100% renewable energy source based electric power system.
IEA PVPS Task 15: Acceleration of BIPV
Building integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) is one of the future markets for Photovoltaics which enables the combination of architecture and energy technology. The project focussed on further national research in the area of BIPV, which is to be raised to an international level.
IEA PVPS Task 15: Builiding integrated Photovoltaic (Working period 2019 - 2021)
The focal points of this Task are: Digitization of the BIPV planning processes (BIM), creation of a multifunctional evaluation matrix (ecological, economic, energetic, architectural); harmonization (construction, electrical engineering) of the pre-normative tests of BIPV elements as well as the creation of a practice-oriented guideline for the construction industry.
IEA PVPS Task 15: Enabling Framework for the Acceleration of BIPV (Working period 2024 - 2027)
Photovoltaics in general, and thus also the integration of photovoltaics into buildings (BIPV), represents a key component in the energy system of the future. The issues of land consumption for PV and dual use are now making BIPV increasingly important. Solutions for photovoltaics integrated into the building envelope are therefore increasingly becoming the focus of the construction industry.
IEA PVPS Task 17: Photovoltaik for Transport (working period 2018 - 2021)
The IEA PVPS Task 17 focuses on the potential contributions of PV technologies to the transport sector as well as on the expected market potential of PV application in the transport sector.
IEA PVPS Task 1: PV Analysis and Outreach
Since the start of the IEA photovoltaics program in 1993, this task has carried out analyzes of worldwide photovoltaic development, from which the program's key work areas are also derived. This gives Task 1 strategic importance for the overall PVPS program. The participation of all PVPS countries in this task is mandatory to ensure high quality of data and analysis.
IEA PVPS Task 1: Strategic PV Analysis & Outreach (Working period until 2022)
This task, which is mandatory for all countries participating in the IEA-PVPS program, has been producing global reports on photovoltaic development since 1993. In addition, content-related priorities are set, or new topics and tasks are developed, which are then sent to the ExCo for decision-making. This gives Task 1 strategic importance for the overall IEA PVPS program.
