Operational and maintenance costs in passive houses and low energy houses
How much energy does a passive house actually save? Does a passive house pay-off by itself? What are the costs for maintancence? For the first time an approximation for the running costs of a passive house were systematically documented and compared.
PEAR – Test facility for energy efficient automation and control of buildings
The energy demand calculated in the design phase often differs from measured values in the actual building operation. This projects reviews building automation and operation by presenting a solution how to assess energy efficiency of control strategies in the fields of air conditioning systems, concrete core activation and free cooling. The results are implemented in the demonstration building "Post am Rochus".
PEB - Plus-Energy-Office
An integrated technical energy plus office concept without additional building costs demonstrates the feasibility of such projects instancing a concrete office project with 50.000 m² floor area in Vienna with economical cost consideration.
Photonic Cooling – Efficient cooling of buildings through the use of photonic
Within the scope of the project a photonic cooling approach was investigated and evaluated in terms of feasibility and cost efficiency for building applications. In particular cost-efficient photonic surfaces and concepts were investigated which need to have a high reflectivity in of the incident solar radiation (>97%) and a high emission coefficient within the spectral range of 8 – 13 micrometer in order to enable the emission of heat into the sky.
Photovoltaic solar modules for building integration
Development of new manufacturing technique for photovoltaic solar modules, which fulfil the special requirements of building integration.
Potential and concepts for waste water heat recovery in combination with solar collectors and heat pumps (WRGpot)
The objective of the project is to find possibilities for the reduction of heat demand for hot water preparation of low energy and passive house buildings, in order to advance a further step into the direction of plus-energy buildings.
PowerShade - Development of electricity-generating shading solutions for energy-flexible buildings in urban space
The main goal of the cooperative R&D project "PowerShade" is the development of low-cost and universally usable electricity-generating shading solutions for energy-flexible buildings in urban space.
ProKlim - Optimisation of Energy Efficiency of automated indoor climate systems by using weather forecasts
Investigation of the basic energy savings potential for buildings in commercial use by including weather forecasts as a variable. Additionally, a concept for integrating weather forecasts into the heating and air conditioning control systems in buildings is planned to be developed. Within the scope of the feasibility study, a detailed analysis of technological possibilities, including both hardware and software, will be conducted.
Quality criteria for the Building of Tomorrow
Development and implementation of contributions to the quality control of innovative technologies in the areas of building services and insulation that are derived substantially from HAUSderZukunft findings.
Reduction of cooling requirements through optimized urban structures and processes and design optimisation in building design (smartKB*)
Based on a systematic listing of appropriate methods, recommended actions have been developed to reduce the cooling requirements in new or renovated buildings on three levels: a) optimization and use of appropriate urban structures, b) design strategies and passive measures for building concepts, c) reduction of cooling requirements through integrated planning processes.
SOCO.net - Solar Cooling Network for AUSTR(AL)IA
The main goal was to establish a long-term cooperation for "Solar Cooling" between the Austria Solar Innovation Center (ASiC) and the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES) at the renowned Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. Combining the competences of both institutes immediately offers the chance to boost the penetration of the European and the Australian market with this new technology for cooling in sustainable buildings.
SOLROSE FP - bionical designed solarthermal collector, final product developement
Archieved goal was the final product developement oft he innovative solarthermal collector SOLrose from prototype to seriel production. Enhancements of SOLrose with respect to the state oft he art: attractive design for frontage integration, serial production of system modules, distribution and assembling.
SQUARE - A System for Quality Assurance when Retrofitting Existing Buildings to Energy Efficient Buildings
The project aims to promote a flexible quality assurance management for the retrofitting process. It leads to high quality renovations of residential multifamily buildings regarding energy improvement and improvement of indoor environment.
SaLüH! Renovation of multi-family houses with small apartments, low-cost technical solutions for ventilation, heating and hot water
New innovative concepts for heating and ventilation were investigated. Very compact heat pumps are developed in such a way that it will be possible to integrate these units into the window parapet or into a prefabricated timber façade.
SocialLowCostFlex - Collaborative flexible low-cost energy supply concepts for social housing
This project aimed for feasible low-cost solutions, which allow residents of multi-party houses, with special focus on social housing to profit and participate in the energy transition process and associated trends (e.g. community generation units, exploitation of flexibility). The results of the project are low-cost concepts and business models of community generation units and utilization concepts, tested for their feasibility in a social housing complex. These concepts are based on special requirements of different lifestyles in low-income households and take the framework of social housing such as tenant fluctuation into account.
Sol2Pump - High efficient combination of solar thermal plants, photovoltaic and heat pumps
Targeting a high level of decentralised energy supply on basis of renewable energy, the project analysed the possible combinations of solar thermal energy, photovoltaic and heat pumps. The project aimed to maximise the domestic energy supply due to utilisation of the building as short term energy storage. In addition to that, several optimisation measures had been developed. The impact on the energy supply and demand will be economically assessed through life cycle costing. On this basis, the potential load transfer and the use of this kind of systems had been evaluated in combination with smart grids.
